Unroot Android Devices Manually Without PC

We have listed out all the possible way to unroot Android device manually without using PC. Here they come:

Method 1. Root File Manager

  1. Download and Install any Root File Manager of your choice. We recommed using MiXplorer – it’s free! 
  2. Open the File Manager and look for a folder named /system/ and then look for a folder named /bin/ inside it.
  3. Look for a file named su. Press and hold and select Delete option. If you cannot find the su file in this folder, do not worry, skip to the next step. Every device architecture is different and some devices do not have this file.
  4. Inside the same /system/ folder, look for another folder named /xbin/. Then inside that, look for a file named su and delete the same.
  5. Next, inside the same /system/ folder, look for another folder named /app/ and then look for a file named Superuser.apk and delete the same.

Method 2. From Inside SuperSU App

  1. If you are rooted using chainfire’s SuperSU, you would have the app named SuperSU on your device. Simply open the same.
  2. Tap on Settings.
  3. Scroll down till you see an option named Full Unroot and tap on it.
  4. You will get a prompt to ask if you are sure you want to continue. Tap on Continue.
  5. The rest of the things will be taken care by the app.
  6. Once the process completes, you may need to manually install the SuperSU app.
  7. Done!

Your device is now fully unrooted!

Method 3. By Installing OTA Update

Android manufacturers release updates for the devices from time to time. Most of the time, the update will be released in the form of OTA (Over The Air update). When you get such an update to the Android system, you can simply install it and get rid of the root access.

If you want to check for OTA updates, you can manually go to Settings > About Phones > Software updates and tap on the Check for updates. Once you receive the OTA update notification, simply download the same and tap on ‘Install’. The system will automatically reboot and then the update will be installed.

Note: Please note that you might need to have stock recovery to be able to install OTA updates. Custom Recoveries are known to have a problem with installing OTA updates.

Method 4. By Installing Stock Firmware

This is similar to the method we just mentioned above but the great thing about this method is that it will always work! Simply download the latest stock ROM of your device and install it. This will get rid of the SuperSU from your phone. No matter what type of Recovery/ROM/Kernel you are using, this method will work.

The only downside with this method is that you will end up losing all the data on your device. Your device will be restored to stock factory settings. Only choose this option if all the above-mentioned method does not work!
