How to Sideload Apps on Amazon Fire TV Stick [2018]

Well, Amazon Fire TV Stick is a powerful media streaming device that plugs into your TV with an HDMI port and lets you access your favorite movies, TV shows, music, photos, subscription services, apps, and games just like an android device.

Getting your Fire TV Stick ready

Note: Since the “apps from unknown sources” will be disabled by default, you will be required to Enable ADB Debugging and Apps from Unknown Sources manually by following these below steps.

In order to do this, first, you need to power on your Fire TV Stick and navigate your way to Settings > Device > Developer Options. Here you should click on ADB Debugging and Apps from Unknown Sources so that the status text just below turns ON.

Next, you should press the back button on your Remote (fire TV) and similarly navigate to Settings > Device > About > Network and now on the right-hand side, you will find your Fire TV Stick’s IP Address you can note it somewhere for your later use.

Install and Setup Apps2Fire

Install the app Apps2Fire (free on play store) on to your android phone or tablet and also install all of the apps which you want to transfer to your Fire Stick, ignore if you already have them on your phone preinstalled. By installing “Apps2Fire” you can gain easy access to sideload the apps to your Fire TV.

Now, launch the ‘Apps2Fire’ app after the installation and head straight to the ‘SETUP’ tab that can be found after few swipes to the right and now enter the IP address that you have noted from your Fire Stick, then tap Save and wait while the app will be connected to the fire stick.

Sideload Apps to your Fire TV Stick

After successfully connecting to the fire stick:

  1. Swipe to find the Local Apps section. Here you can see the list of all the apps that are installed on your phone.
  2. Locate the app that you want specifically to be put on your Fire Stick
  3. Tap on it, then select Install.

The app will now begin uploading wirelessly and It may take a few minutes, especially if it’s a large app so be patient and let the phone be awake during this process. Once the upload completes its 100 percent, there will be a slight delay of few seconds for the app to automatically get installed and both your phone and your TV will be notified once it is completed. Now go to your Fire Stick and hold the Home button then select Apps, now you should see your newly-installed app listed here and Just click the launch option to launch it. You can also use the same method to install the apk files that are in your phone to the Fire TV Stick.

Note: It is important to note here that not all the apps are compatible to work properly on Amazon Fire TV Stick. So, before you install the app, make sure it is actually compatible with Amazon Fire TV Stick.
