On many occasions, I have often compared the devices from OnePlus with the extinct Nexus lineup which was quite popular 3 years ago. OnePlus has been successfully able to fill in the void that was created due to the exit of the Nexus brand in 2016. OnePlus has not only filled in the void but also has established itself as one of the most successful brands in 2018. OnePlus is one of the top 5 premium smartphone brands of 2018 with 2% of the global market share and it has also been able to establish itself as the most successful premium brand in India with 40% of the market share beating Samsung and Apple. All this can be credited to the clean, bloatware-free, minimal and close to stock Android-based firmware at a price which was lower than what other OEMs charged with their flagship products.
In recent times, we have seen many phone manufacturers trying to steal some market share from OnePlus by launching high value for money products in the price segment that OnePlus dominates. These mostly include phones from Honor, Asus, and Xiaomi. But one thing that helps OnePlus is the Oxygen OS firmware which is the closest thing to stock Android in today’s custom firmware market. If you have ever used an OnePlus device, you might have witnessed that its basically the stock android launcher with a different icon pack, some additional features and a shelf on the left of the home screen instead of the Google feed. For some, the lack of Google Feed on the home screen is a deal-breaker. OEMs like Huawei and Asus have already incorporated the Google Feed in their respective firmware.

Steps To Getting Google Feed On OnePlus Launcher
Note: Make sure that your device is rooted with Magisk and runs on Oxygen OS 9.0 based on Android 9 Pie. Currently, its available only for OnePlus 6 and other eligible OnePlus devices may get in a month or two. I am not sure if it works on devices running Oxygen OS Open Beta programs.
- Download the Oxygen OS Google Feed Magisk module from the downloads section above.
- From the app drawer, run the Magisk Manager app.
- Tap the menu icon which can be found on the top left corner.
- Tap on Modules and then tap on the + icon.
- Navigate to the location where the file you downloaded in step 1 is stored. Once found, tap on it.
- Once the module is installed, reboot your device.
And you are done. Congratulations! You just replaced your stock OnePlus Shelf with the Google Feed.
Remember not to do perform these steps if your device is not running on Oxygen OS 9.0. You might brick your device. In such a scenario, neither Themefoxx nor the author will be responsible for it.
