A lot has happened recently between Huawei and Google. As the U.S. Government has decided to pull off its plug from using any Chinese technology which resulted in Google shutting its business down, with Huawei. Google has revoked the Android license of Huawei and no further updates or even the Android OS cannot be used on any Huawei or Honor devices. Now, there is a recent development in this case.

Huawei on November last year also confirmed in some reports that they are building a new alternative to the Android OS. Moreover, they have also sought partnership with Aptoide, which is an alternative to Google’s Play Store. Now, new reports suggest that the new OS that Huawei is developing will be called the Ark OS. According to the AndroidHeadlines, Huawei has submitted several trademarks to the EUIPO. The names that are registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) are HUAWEI ARK OS, HUAWEI ARK, ARK, and ARK OS.

According to the Huawei CEO,

Company is ready for the change, and ensured its users that everything will be okay, but there are a ton of obstacles for the company, if the situation doesn’t get ironed out.

The CEO of Huawei Ren Zhengfei shared some information on this issue stating;

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the US companies that we work with. Over these 30 years, they have helped us to grow into what we are today. They have made many contributions to us. We also have been receiving support from a large number of US component and part manufacturers over all these years. In the face of the recent crisis, I can feel these companies’ sense of justice and sympathy towards us.

It will be interesting to see the future development of this issue between the Chinese tech giant and the U.S. government. But, even if Huawei comes up with its own OS, will it bring back the glory that they used to share when using the Android OS on their smartphones. Time will only tell and till then we have to wait and watch.
