YouTube picture-in-picture mode is great if you want to watch videos while working. Learn how to watch YouTube videos in Picture-in-picture mode by using Google Chrome.
There is no doubt that when it comes to multitasking, Android is leap years ahead of any of its competitors. Bigger displays, larger RAM storage options, Split Screen Multitasking, and Picture in Picture Mode all work together to bring out the best multitasking experience that one can get from a phone. The picture in Picture mode is quite new with its introduction a year ago as a feature of Android 8.0 Oreo. It allows you to run two apps simultaneously with one app floating over the other app. Though studies suggest that such multitasking can hinder brain functions, we do not want to miss out anything. With Android Oreo, Google let its users use any app with a video playing or Google Maps navigation window floating over it. Now, it seems that Google is pushing its picture in picture mode over various platforms. This is evident of the fact that Google has pushed the PiP mode to Chrome Web Browser by an update.
If you are someone who is wondering how to access this feature and play the YouTube videos in a floating window while you do other stuff, here is a guide which will help you solve your issue.
Steps To Watch YouTube In Chrome’s PiP Mode
- Open the Chrome Web Browser from your PC and make sure that you are running Chrome Version 70.0.3538.102. To check your version, tap on the menu button found on the top right corner of the Chrome Web Browser and hover your mouse pointer on the Help section until a submenu appears. From the submenu, click on “About Google Chrome.” It is here where you can check your Chrome version and update it if any new update is available.
- Now, Open YouTube from your browser and play any video of your liking.
- Right-click on the video player and you will find a pop-up menu with some options. These options would not contain the toggle for the picture in picture mode. However, if you right click again on the video player while the previous pop up menu is still active on your screen, the set of options on the pop-up menu will get replaced by a new set and it is here where you can find the option to enable picture in picture mode.
- Now, click on the picture in picture option to play the video in the picture in picture mode.
And it is done. Congratulations! you just enabled picture in picture mode for YouTube in Chrome.
Once in the picture in picture mode, you have the ability to resize the window which can be maximized up to a quarter of your PC’s display. You can also change its position which is by default positioned to the lower right edge of the display. But the best thing is that you can do any other stuff while enjoying YouTube as well.
