Tumblr has tons and tons of really fun content. But, it is a sad fact that the amount of NSFW content on Tumblr has risen exponentially in recent years. And that is the reason why adult-related (and similar) Tumblr blogs have the Safe Mode warning enabled by default.
Unless you are under 18, there is really no reason to have the Safe Mode turned on. In this guide, let us show you how to disable Tumblr safe mode.
Disable Safe Mode on Tumblr
Tumblr, by default, has the Safe Mode turned on for all users irrespective of their age. So, the Safe Mode will not go away by default even you are signed in (and over 18). You need to manually turn it off.
If you are under the age of 18, there is no way to turn off the Safe Mode in Tumblr. And hey, you shouldn’t. (Who am I kidding *rolls eyes*).
- Sign in to your Tumblr account.
- Go to Account > Settings.
- On the Filtering section: disable Safe Mode by tapping the switch next to it.
That’s it! You should now be able to access all the Tumblr blogs and posts flagged ‘NSFW’.
Keep in mind that once you sign out, you lose access to NSFW content, so make sure to log in whenever you want to access NSFW Content.
Disable Tumblr Safe Mode on Mobile
iPhone and iPad
On iOS, you need to disable Tumblr Safe mode from the iOS Settings app rather than from inside the app.
- Open the Settings app, scroll down, and then tap Tumblr.
- Under Tumblr Settings, tap on the Safe Mode.
- Tap Don’t Hide Anything which will turn Safe Mode off.
Restrictions lifted! You should be able to access all NSFW content on the Tumblr app.
On Android, you can turn off Tumblr Safe from right within the Tumblr official app.
- Open the Tumblr app, tap the Account icon, and then tap the Settings icon.
- Go to General Settings > Filtering.
- Tap the switch next to Safe Mode to turn it off.
You should be able to access all NSFW content on the Tumblr app.
Please note that Safe Mode setting doesn’t sync across devices, so you need to separately turn it off on the desktop, iOS, and Android.
Turn Off Tumblr Safe Mode without an Account
So, you don’t have a create Tumblr Account and you don’t want to create one just to bypass Safe Mode on Tumblr? No worries, we have got you covered.
Cascadr.co features a simple, clean, and minimal design, but it is powerful. All you have to do is to type in the name of any Tumblr blog, and it will instantly start loading photos and GIFs in thumbnail format, which makes it an insanely useful way to quickly scan through thousands of posts. You simply click on a thumbnail to access a full-resolution version of the related image.
Tumbex is another site that lets you access all the Tumblr content without any restrictions. It also lets you search for posts individually. The thing that I love about Tumbex is that it displays the images in a customizable grid format which makes navigating through complex Tumblr blogs a breeze. You can also determine the quality — SD, HD, and MD — that images load in to manage bandwidth.
There is also an option by which you can also sign in using your Facebook or Google accounts and bookmark blogs and posts for viewing later.
