HMD owned Nokia is perhaps the only Android manufacturer who is really serious about updating its phone. From manufacturing phones in partnership with Google under the Android One initiative, Nokia has been doing a great job when it comes to supporting its products. Nokia has devices to satisfy everyone needs at all price segments. From the flagship Nokia 9 Pureview to the entry-level Nokia 1, now every Nokia branded phone is running on the latest stable release of Android.
Juho Sarvikas, CFO of HMD Global took Twitter to announce this rare feat.
Excited to share that our most affordable smartphone, Nokia 1, upgrades to Android 9 Pie starting today. Now there is a Nokia smartphone for everyone running Pie – bringing to you the latest experiences from Google. Nokia phones just keep getting better
When it comes to Android OEMs, Nokia is quite new with HMD Global getting its Android license in 2016 and it managed to beat all major Android manufacturers when it comes to pushing out system updates and security patches for all the 22 devices under its branding. It is a real commending job and Nokia must be appreciated for this.
Saying so, many of the updates for older Nokia phones might be getting dropped really soon as Nokia promised its consumers with two years of software support and as of now, there is no official confirmation regarding the future of older Nokia phones. Still, take a moment to appreciate Nokia to live up to its words and encourage them to keep getting better.
